“As Turkey, we offer safety within the Black Sea. They [the US] shouldn’t flip the Black Sea right into a Center East,” Adm. Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, commander of the Turkish Naval Forces, mentioned at an occasion to mark the institution of a naval faculty.
“That’s the reason we don’t want any nation or NATO to enter the Black Sea,” he added.
“Our aim is for Montreux to be revered. We now have offered safety for everybody within the Black Sea,” Turkish Minute quoted him as saying.
Below the 1936 Montreux Conference, Ankara has management over the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits and might restrict warship passage whether it is threatened or throughout wartime.
