Police have dropped a rape and sexual assault investigation into Conservative MP Andrew Rosindell.

Mr Rosindell, the MP for Romford, has not voted within the Home of Commons since Might 2022, when he says the allegations had been made.

The Metropolitan Police stated the allegations included indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of place of belief and misconduct in public workplace.

However a “thorough investigation” has now completed and officers determined there was not sufficient proof to prosecute.

A spokesperson for the pressure stated: “In January 2020, the Met obtained a report referring to alleged sexual offences having being dedicated in London between 2002 and 2009.

“A person, aged in his 50s, was arrested in Might 2022 on suspicion of indecent assault, sexual assault, rape, abuse of place of belief and misconduct in public workplace.

“A radical investigation has been carried out by detectives. They concluded that the proof didn’t meet the brink set by Crown Prosecutors.

“The person has been knowledgeable he’ll face no additional motion.”

A press release from Mr Rosindell’s workplace stated: “In relation to an allegation made in Might 2022 by a person towards Andrew Rosindell the Metropolitan Police have performed an intensive investigation and concluded that there was no case to reply and that no additional motion could be taken.

“Andrew has been utterly exonerated.

“He has been working always for Romford all through the previous twenty-one months and can proceed to talk up for the individuals of his beloved house city as their native MP.”
